The Carolinas are home to many unique breweries and we are proud to support and serve selections from local breweries here at Bubba’s Fish Camp & Smokehouse. We serve various kinds of beer from sours, IPAs, ales, lagers, and porters alike. We have something for everyone with 20+ beers on tap at all times. Here are some of our current favorites:
Wicked Weed: Pernicious
Wicked Weed Brewery is located in Asheville, North Carolina, about 300 miles Northwest of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Wicked Weed is known for their bold ideas, specializing in West Coast style IPAs and barrel-aged sour ales. One of their most popular brews, Pernicious, a dry hop, is a beer we have on tap here at Bubba’s Fish Camp & Smokehouse. Wicked Weed says the beer has an “…influence that is harmful in a way not easily noticed. This beer is harmful, not because of overwhelming hop bitterness, but because its balanced brightness insidiously ruins your expectations for all other IPAs. This hop delivery vehicle is crafted to enjoy fresh and often and because of its drinkability and clean finish you’ll never look at IPAs the same again. The harm is done”. People always ask us what menu item pairs well with this beer, and we’d have to say the Brisket Platter, of course! We smoke it low and slow overnight, resulting in the juiciest, most tender cut. The perfectly flavorful cut of brisket offsets the dryness of the Pernicious, resulting in an unbeatable flavor combo.
Snafu: Keeping It Teal
Snafu Brewing Company is located in Charleston, South Carolina, about 100 miles south of Myrtle Beach. Snafu Brewing Company is known for their unique brews including flavors like caramel, coffee, fruity Italian ices, maple syrup, and even strawberry milkshake. A unique beer that we have on tap is, Keeping It Teal. It’s teal in color and we love to serve it up on Coastal Carolina University game days! Keeping It Teal is a sour brewed with oats and milk sugar then conditioned on cotton candy and blue raspberry Italian ice. We recommend pairing Keeping It Teal with the Carnivore’s Dream for a fun flavor journey. This sandwich is a half-pound short-rib chuck burger patty, chopped brisket, pulled pork, shaved ribeye, bacon, and pulled chicken smothered in jalapeno cheese sauce.
Pisgah: Blueberry Wheat
Pisgah Brewing Company is located in Black Mountain, North Carolina, about 300 miles Northwest of Myrtle Beach. Pisgah Brewing Company is known for their award-winning craft ales all-organic grains and malts. We keep their Blueberry Wheat on tap here at Bubba’s Fish Camp. Blueberry Wheat is an American wheat ale, brewed with 2-row malted barley and white wheat. They add a heaping dose of blueberry puree which is how the ale gets its flavor and aroma. We often get asked what we would pair this ale with and we always recommend the Going Overboard platter! This platter comes with blackened Mahi Mahi, blackened salmon, fried shrimp, fried oysters, fries, coleslaw and our signature hushpuppies. The sweet flavors of blueberry balance well with the savory seasonings found in the seafood platter.
